There have been claims of mass executions taking place in prisons across Syria, and torture being used on inmates. Rebel leader Abu Mohammed al Jolani has said he won’t pardon those responsible for detainees torture under the Assad regime.
Rebel fighters continue to search prisons across the country in the wake of Assad’s downfall, Sky News got a window into that horrific back story.
Sky’s Yalda Hakim has been to see Sednaya prison, on the outskirts of Damascus and spoke to relatives of one dead prisoner.
