Syria’s president says he’s chosen to avoid dragging the country into a new and broader war pulling government forces out of a mainly Druze province in the south.

It hasn’t stopped the clashes between Druze militia and Bedouin tribes which have already left scores of people dead.
Across the border, in the Israeli occupied Golan Heights many of the sizeable Druze population have welcomed Israel’s airstrikes in support of the community and they have unexpectedly had a chance to cross into Syria for the first time in decades.
