Syrian rebels capture key city of Hama

Syrian rebels have captured the key city of Hama, marking the latest blow to President Bashar Al-Assad.

The Syrian army said they withdrew from Hama after intense clashes ‘to preserve civilian lives and prevent urban combat.’

This is the first time the city has fallen into rebel control since the start of the civil war in 2011.
