The Taliban has banned 140 books authored by women and outlawed 18 subjects from Afghan universities, including human rights and sexual harassment.

The administration says they contradict its interpretation of Sharia law.
The decree adds to a series of crackdowns on women’s education since their return to power in 2021, including bans on schooling beyond sixth grade and on university access for women.
