An elderly British couple who spent months in a maximum security prison in Afghanistan have been freed.

The Foreign Office today confirmed the release of 76-year-old Barbie Reynolds and her 80-year-old husband Peter.
The couple had lived in Afghanistan for almost twenty years, running an education organisation, but were arrested in February and have been held since then without charge.
