Task force announced to clamp down on ‘crooked immigration lawyers’ who coach migrants to lie

The job of the Professional Enablers Taskforce is to root out corrupt immigration lawyers.

The group, which brings together civil servants, law enforcement and regulatory bodies, has already been in existence for a few months.

But today the government chose to announce an ‘official’ launch of the Whitehall unit – but no new funding.

In reply, the Law Society accused the government of trying to distract from its own asylum backlog by demonising lawyers.
