Teesside beautician held in jail for drug smuggling charges could be home in two years | ITV News

A beautician from Teesside has been told she will now only serve a fraction of the 60-year sentence she had feared for carrying two suitcases packed with cocaine through Chicago’s main airport en route to Britain.

ITV News understands Kimberley Hall could now be back home in as little as a year but no longer than two years – once final legal negotiations are complete.

Speaking after a plea bargain hearing in Chicago, her attorney Brandon Carter said state prosecutors have accepted the 29-year-old was forced to carry the drugs under duress while also suffering from bipolar disorder that affected her decision making.

Final sentencing in the case is now listed for 8th September 2025.
