The eastern Ukrainian city of Izium is one of the last functioning cities close to the frontline. ITV News International Editor Emma Murphy has travelled there and witnessed how the city and its people survive amidst a continual Russian bombardment. Deputy Mayor Volodymyr Matsokin remembers the five month occupation in 2022 with horror saying, “What the Russians did to our city was simply unimaginable. And the main thing is not even the destruction we see here, but the fact that local residents experienced absolute brutality: torture, abuse, killings and rape."
