Members of the National Union of Students (NUS) have urged the Chancellor not to “act like a loan shark” over student debt as they staged a protest outside parliament.
Graduates also called for her to reverse her decision to freeze the repayment threshold for Plan 2 student loans for the next three years.
In the wake of Wednesday’s protest, Labour’s deputy leader Lucy Powell criticised “egregious” interest rates on student loans, despite Chancellor Rachel Reeves defending the system.
