A man who talked down a would be terrorist from bombing a hospital in Leeds after a chance encounter outside said he was "just meant to be there".
Nathan Newby was vaping outside St James’s Hospital on the night of 20 January 2023 when he came across self-radicalised extremist Mohammad Farooq.
Farooq, now aged 30, was carrying a pressure cooker adapted as an explosive and planned to massacre hospital staff.
But he was convinced to hand himself in after Mr Newby engaged him in conversation for two hours.
Mr Newby has now been awarded Britain’s second highest bravery award, the George Cross.
