The King will not be apologising for Britain's role in the transatlantic slave trade

King Charles will not apologise on behalf of the UK for the wrongs of the transatlantic slave trade, when he visits the Caribbean later this month.

But Buckingham Palace says the King will not “shy away from" what he has previously called “the darkest days of our past”.

The King is travelling to The Bahamas, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda on his overseas tour which coincides with the biennial meeting of Commonwealth leaders.

But as he acts on government advice, he won’t be saying sorry for Britain’s actions committed during this period of its colonial era.
