'The last 15 or 16 years have been an assault on children,' says children's laureate

Children’s laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce has said "the last 15 or 16 years have been an assault on children".

Speaking to Trevor Phillips he added: "Children bore the brunt of austerity. But the pandemic, we made sure children bore the brunt of that, they were the ones who were locked down.

"All these things, children have had a very bad time the last 14 or 15 years. It is within the gift of government to change that."
