Four people have been injured after a car rammed into members of the public and a stabbing attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to an incident on Middleton Road just after 9.30am on Thursday 2 October, following reports of a car driving into people and a man being stabbed.
Paramedics arrived at the scene at 9.41am and are tending to members of the public near the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue.
A man, who is believed to be the offender, was shot by a firearms officer.
The reported stabbings come as members of the Jewish community observe Yom Kippur – the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and is a time when synagogues are usually particularly busy.
In a statement GMP said: "GMP declared PLATO and a major incident at 9.37am. Shots were fired by Greater Manchester Police firearms officers at 9.38am. One man has been shot, believed to be the offender."
