Huge crowds cheered an unexpected appearance by the Pope as he wished them a ‘Happy Easter’ from the Vatican balcony before being carried through the faithful on his popemobile, stopping several times to bless babies and small children.
The 88 year old is recovering after being treated for pneumonia in both lungs.
He was also well enough today for a brief meeting with the US Vice President JD Vance.
