The science behind the frog poison that allegedly killed Alexei Navalny

The Russian state has long been accused of using exotic poisons to murder its opponents, whether the nerve agent Novichok or radioactive plutonium isotopes.

Navalny was a political dissident who challenged Putin. He survived being poisoned with the Novichok nerve agent.

He died in prison after being poisoned with a deadly toxin found in Ecuadorian dart frogs, the UK and other allies have claimed.

Russian authorities insist Navalny’s death was natural.
