The UK has recorded its sunniest year on record says the Met Office

It may be hard to believe amid the winter gloom, but 2025 has been the UK’s sunniest year on record.

The Met Office says the country had clocked up an average of 1,622 hours of sunshine by December 15. That’s significantly more than the previous record of 1,587 hours in the whole of 2003.
