Shadow home secretary, Chris Philp, has responded to Yvette Cooper’s pledge to close all asylum hotels in the UK "for good".
Speaking in the House of Commons, Philp pointed out that 29,003 illegal immigrants have crossed the Channel this year, up 38% this year.
