Rising inflation and food prices are hurting families, many of whom cannot afford childcare and activities over the summer holidays, ITV News Consumer Editor Chris Choi reports.
More than a third of parents say they plan to skip meals in order to send their children to holiday camp this summer, according to a new survey.
The data, gathered by the Salvation Army, also found that more than a third of parents say they cannot afford to pay for childcare over summer, nor take time off to care for their children themselves.
Meanwhile 30% said they cannot afford to take their children on any sort of holiday at all.
