‘This is about swifter justice for victims,’ says justice minster

David Lammy announced, jury trials are to be scrapped for defendants facing sentences of three years or less and will be replaced with a single judge.

Speaking to Sky News, Justice Minister Sarah Sackman MP says these reforms are about “swifter justice for victims”.

She says: “We’ve inherited these rising backlogs, the delays are getting worse and worse. We have a mountain to climb and that’s why the radical action plan we’re setting out today is so desperately needed.”
