
Thousands of people have flocked to a waterfront park in the South Korean city of Busan to see a large shark that became trapped in a narrow canal.

The 3.5-metre shark – nicknamed Bukang-i after Busan’s North Port – was first spotted in the waterway on 18 September. It has since become an unusual city attraction.
Experts believe it got lost while hunting prey and ventured from the sea into the canal. Several attempts were made to drag the animal back out to sea, but the operations were eventually suspended.
