Thousands of students take part in nationwide protests across Italy

Thousands of students have been protesting in cities across Italy, calling for greater investment in public education and better learning conditions.

Outside the Ministry of Education in Rome some protesters threw firecrackers and bottles at police.

The march follows a wave of student protests across Europe.
