TikTok avoids US ban with new deal

TikTok says its Chinese owners, Byte Dance, have agreed a deal with a group of investors to create a new US entity, avoiding a federal ban.

The US Congress voted overwhelmingly to ban the app in 2024 until a US buyer could be found, but President Trump delayed the move while negotiations took place.
