Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has welcomed the government’s potential decision to U-turn on business rates for some, but has warned "the hospitality industry is much bigger than just pubs".
Kerridge owns four pubs that were set to be hit by soaring business rates due to a mix of measures announced by the chancellor in the budget, and the end of COVID-era support.
He tells The UK Tonight that pubs were already under a "huge amount of pressure" before Rachel Reeves’s budget, and that her statement "wasn’t very helpful at all".
