‘Too early’ to give motive for MP attack, says Australian PM

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says it’s ‘too early’ to give details of the motivation behind an attack on an MP.

Helen Haines, MP for Indi in Victoria, was hit by a car outside her electorate office in Wangaratta, and is in critical condition.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.

A counterterrorism investigation into the incident is underway.
