'Too many ways' to block large infrastructure projects, says minister

Government minister James Murray has defended changes to the planning process that would make it more difficult for the public to fight contentious projects.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury James Murray said there were "too many ways" for people to block major infrastructure goals.

Under the new plans, decisions on new roads, reservoirs, airports and railways will be sped up on average by about six months by cutting the amount of time it takes to hold a judicial review.
