Tory Councillor’s wife pleads guilty to spreading hate

The wife of a Conservative Councillor, Lucy Connolly, has pleaded guilty to stirring up racial hatred on social media, on the day of the Southport knife attack.

She called for asylum seeker hotels to be set on fire. She awaits sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court in October and the judge said she is likely to get a “substantial, custodial sentence”.
