Kemi Badenoch has accused the prime minister of "taking the public for fools" with tough talking proposals to crackdown on legal immigration, saying he’s previously voted against her party’s efforts.
The Tory leader said Labour have "watered down" legislation currently going through parliament including an amendment which would have made it more difficult for migrants to be granted indefinite leave to remain.
Badenoch admitted "immigration is too high" and said the Conservatives want to work with Labour to bring it down, but added the proposals set out by the PM were "no where near the scale of the change we need to see."
