It’s usually added to your accommodation bills and can range from just a few cents per night up to 15 euros at top-rated hotels. That can add hundreds of pounds to family holidays at a time when many are feeling a financial squeeze.
And it’s not just happening abroad. Liverpool and Manchester have both brought in City Visitor Charges; and Edinburgh is set to introduce one next summer.
