President Trump has described the ongoing fallout over the use of the messaging app Signal by top US officials to discuss military action as a ‘witch hunt’.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, the President claimed he didn’t know anything about classified information, falling short of the White House’s earlier assertions the messages contained no such details.
Jeffrey Goldberg, Editor in Chief of The Atlantic magazine, released on Wednesday further screenshots to support his claim that sensitive US military plans were texted to a group of senior Trump administration officials, which he had been mistakenly added to.
Goldberg said there was "clear public interest" in publishing the full chain of messages, to which he was inadvertently given access.
