Tributes have flooded in for the ‘giant of broadcasting’ John Stapleton, who was a fixture on both ITV and BBC throughout his five-decade-long career, after he died in hospital on Sunday morning at the age of 79.
Stapleton, who presented on programmes including the BBC’s Watchdog and GMTV’s News Hour, revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in October 2024 – and today his agent Jackie Gill, said that the disease was ‘complicated by pneumonia’.
