US President Donald Trump claims it’s a big day for World Peace, after announcing he was rowing back on threats to ‘end civilisation’ in Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social site, Trump confirmed he will suspend strikes for two weeks as long as the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.
The ceasefire came just before Trump’s deadline. The Strait of Hormuz, the pivotal waterway through which a fifth of the world’s oil is transported, has effectively remained closed for the last month as the war continued.
Now Trump says Iran has proposed a "workable" 10-point peace plan that could help end the war.
Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu said Israel have accepted the ceasefire proposal, but said it doesn’t cover fighting against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
