Iran says it is drafting a protocol with Oman to monitor ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, which it has effectively closed. It said it would facilitate and ensure safe passage to ships that pass through the vital waterway.

That news boosted US stocks, which turned higher after trading lower following President Trump’s address.
Iran also seemed determined to contradict his claim that it’s been "essentially decimated" – firing more missiles at Israel and its Gulf neighbours, even as it came under heavy attack itself.
