Donald Trump says a deal has been reached with Denmark that gives the US "permanent control" over the security of Greenland.
In a social media post, Trump said the deal means the US will establish a "large military presence" on Greenland, coming at "no cost" to the US while also ensuring no other adversary can establish a military presence on the island.

The agreement appears to bring an end to Trump’s months-long quest to annex the island, which he threatened to do by force if it was not sold to America.
While the text of the agreement has not be published yet, the leaders of Greenland and Denmark welcomed it and said the deal would be signed next week.
