US President Donald Trump has confirmed his ally and "great guy" Charlie Kirk has died after being shot at an event in Utah.
The conservative activist and Republican commentator was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem when the shot was fired.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," the US president announced on his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday, just one hour after asking his followers to pray for him.
Official flags will be flown at half-mast in the 31-year-old’s honour until Sunday, as requested by the president.
