US President Donald Trump has said he "loved" the reaction to his comments on Irish unification. He spoke to ITV News Europe Editor James Mates briefly as he walked to the first tee on his golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare.
Answering a question from the press during his meeting with the Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin on September 12th, Trump said he “would love to see” Ireland unified, adding: “It’s going to happen eventually.”
This prompted a stern rebuke from the Conservatives in the UK, while Downing Street pointed to Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s rejection of an immediate border poll earlier in the week. #Trump #irishreunification
