Donald Trump meets with Saudi Arabia’s de-facto ruler, Mohammed bin Salman, at the White House.
It marks the crown prince’s first visit to the US since the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Kashoggi in 2018 at the country’s consulate in Istanbul.
US intelligence concluded that the crown prince approved the capture or killing of Khashoggi, a prominent critic. MBS has denied this but acknowledged responsibility as de-facto ruler.
Mohammed bin Salman is expected to arrive at the White House at 4pm UK time today, followed by a bilateral meeting at around 4.45pm.
Yesterday, in the run-up, Trump confirmed reports that the US plans to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia in a potentially multi-billion-dollar deal.
