Donald Trump decided to bomb Iran and is now "grasping at straws" to legitimise the strikes, according to policy expert Karin Von Hippel.
The former director of the Royal United Services Institute told Trevor Phillips the US president was "grasping at straws to come up for an excuse to do something he wanted to do".
She said the US leader was like a kid in a candy story when he discovered his "military equipment and what it can do".
Iran confirmed on Sunday that the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayotallah Ali Khamenei, was killed in US-Israeli strikes.
