Former Nato Secretary General and ex-Danish Prime Minister Anders Rasmussen has delivered a stark warning over Donald Trump’s threats towards Greenland, saying an attack on the Danish territory would spell the end of Nato and fundamentally undermine the Western alliance.
Speaking to Channel 4 News, Rasmussen has dismissed claims that Denmark has failed to defend Greenland, arguing that the United States already has the right to deploy troops and bases there under a long-standing defence agreement – one it has chosen not to fully use. He warns that Trump’s rhetoric risks eroding the transatlantic relationship and could destabilise the global order.
