Donald Trump tonight damped down hopes that his summit in Alaska with President Putin, could bring about a ceasefire in Ukraine.
In a radio interview with Fox News, he said there was what he called a "25 per cent chance" that tomorrow’s talks would fail.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin was praising President Trump’s peace efforts.
Here, the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy was briefly in Downing Street, for a last-minute show of solidarity before the talks in Alaska get under way.
