Last night, Donald Trump promised "very strong action" if Iran started hanging those protesters. He had already threatened such a response if protesters were killed – the toll now believed to be in the thousands.
On state television, a ‘dissident’ accused of bringing a Molotov cocktail to a protest site, was interrogated by the head of the country’s judiciary.
While 26-year-old Erfan Soltani, who was arrested on Thursday has been sentenced to death by Sunday. His execution, reportedly set for today, may now have been delayed.
