US envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday, their second meeting this month and the fourth since February.
It comes as the Trump administration increases pressure on Ukraine to make concessions in the war, in a bid to secure a peace deal.
Speaking to reporters on Friday as he left the White House to attend the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome, Trump said there is no deadline for the conclusion of peace talks.
"I just want to do it as fast as possible," Trump said, adding negotiators are "pretty close" to a deal.
