From trying to ban news organisations CNN, MS Now and Politico from accessing the White House – a move which all three outlets said “threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference” – to delivering a speech described as “delusional and dangerous” at the biggest diplomatic event of the year, the US president attempted to present himself as a strong, undefeatable leader on the global stage.
But that doesn’t seem to be working, says Popat. Instead, US allies see a leader displaying various authoritarian tactics.
