Turkey: over 1,100 arrested in protests to free mayor of Istanbul

The Turkish authorities say more than 1,100 people have now been arrested after five days of protests across the country – declaring that "terrorising the streets" will not be permitted.

The protests began after the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu was arrested on corruption and terror charges, which he’s denied.
