Rishi Sunak has lost two seats in what were once safe Conservative constituencies but avoided a clean sweep by holding Boris Johnson’s former seat.
The triple by-elections saw Labour overturn a record majority to take the constituency of Selby and Ainsty in North Yorkshire with the Lib Dems claiming a sizeable swing in Somerton and Frome.
But Conservatives held the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip amid a row over extending London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone for car owners.
