Typhoon Koinu lashes south Taiwan

Typhoon Koinu made landfall on Taiwan’s Hengchun peninsula as a category four typhoon with winds of up to 156mph (252kph) early Thursday.

Dozens of international flights were cancelled and many people were asked to stay at home as hundreds were injured
