UK and France’s new migrant deal to receive legal ratification

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper says she expects European Commissioners to sign off on the migrant returns deal between Britain and France.

The agreement was announced yesterday by Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron – which would mean some people crossing the Channel in small boats being returned to France.

But it needs to be legally ratified before it’s put into action.
