Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy has arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, as the UK announced another £20 million to help restore electricity and heating supplies after Russian attacks destroyed much of the country’s energy infrastructure.
President Zelenskyy declared a state of emergency to tackle the crisis – which has left people without heating or light in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
