UK borrowing much higher than expected

UK government borrowing was much higher than expected last month – adding to the pressure on the Chancellor ahead of her Spring Statement next week.

Official figures show it was £10.7 billion – much higher than the £6.5 billion predicted. Rachel Reeves is expected to announce spending cuts on Wednesday to meet her self-imposed rules for the economy.
