After last year’s tax raising budget Rachel Reeves said never again. But today she came back with more tax rises, taking them to record levels, which amounted to £26 billion. The Chancellor admitting the tax burden would again hit working people.

Rachel Reeves didn’t even get to announce it all – the Office for Budget Responsibility put it all online by mistake before she even stood-up.
Rather than one big tax rise there was a smorgasbord of 43 smaller ones, and one big welfare giveaway – the removal of the benefit cap for those with more than two children.
But as the tax measures bite, what will any of this do for Labour’s position in the polls, and the chance of Starmer and Reeves surviving?
