UK cuts aid to increase defence spend

The Prime Minister has announced plans to increase defence spending to 2.5% of the GDP, three years ahead of plan.

Keir Starmer said that he would cut the UK’s international aid budget to fund the rise.

It comes ahead of a visit with President Donald Trump who has been criticising European countries for lacklustre defence spending.
